Projects & Community Outreach
Our club has numerous projects for children, including three depicted below, not shown are our BUGS (bring Up Grades), Swim safety, Cribs to prevent cosleeping death, never shake a baby education, and more. We also participate in Adult projects such as ringing the bell for Salvation Army and helping Habitat for Humanity with their Strawberry Festival. We depend on community support to help us fund these projects; Pancake Day for Camp Kiwanis in December and the Sportsman's Dinner and Auction in the Fall or Summer to help Camp Kiwanis and fund all other projects. Click the menu button at the top right corner of this page to learn more (a lot more) about us.
Kiwanis has given me a wonderful, even international, network of friends. It has given me an opportunity to refine several technical skills, and most of all it has given me the opportunity to see myself making a meaningful difference in the lives of children.
Focusing on children’s needs has been a long time passion of mine. Our club demonstrates their commitment to focusing on children’s needs through their selfless financial support, as well as their giving of time and energy to make a positive impact in the lives of our kids. Our members definitely “walk the talk” when it comes to assisting the children in our community.
2017 Annual Sportsman’s Dinner and Auction was a big success
The auctioneer, Jim Payton, and the crowd pictured in this photo were at our annual SPORTSMAN'S DINNER AND AUCTION at the Oak Run Palm Grove Center on Thursday August 17, 2017. Almost 300 people joined us to help raise funds for our CHILDREN'S PROJECTS.
We sold fishing and hunting equipment, vacation stays, jewelry, a fishing charter, assorted baskets of fantastic goodies and numerous other things.
We sincerely appreciate all the donors who furnished the items to sell, all the sponsors who bought tables of 8, all the workers who helped pull it off and the Oak Run Royal Oaks Golf Club Dining Room for providing a wonderful meal.
We do not have a final tally yet, but we are certain that...
The Kiwanis Club of Ocala has a new web site
You are looking at our new site. You will find it very friendly, easy to use, and more useful than our old site which served us faithfully for many years, Club members can sign in the member section and update their own information. When you do this, you are actually updating the member file at Kiwanis International! It is especially important to have your contact information correct on this file as it is used to send you information from Kiwanis International, the Florida District and our club.
When you look at the Meeting and Events page (under menu item what we do), you may not see all available information. Click on it to see the full description.
